New Dali Museum
There’s a new and improved Dali museum in St. Petersburg, FL, which opened on Jan 11, 2011. Dali’s work is subjective, like all art, but his work has now become a cornerstone in the art world. He made waves and carved the path for artwork today. I’ve been to the “old” museum and thought they had a lot of work. From the looks of the article in the NY Times, it doesn’t seem like they have any new work, but they can house up to 600,000 people annually now, about 3 times more than they could before.
It’s great that there’s a demand to see his work, and it sounds like it’s doing wonders for the community. Personally, the most interesting part of the museum wasn’t his paintings, it was his sketches. Torn out pages of an illustrated book with his bending figures drawn around fruit. It’s fun to see the process to someone who was quite mad to the outside world, or maybe he was just mad.
Have you been to either of the museums? What did you think?
I have not been to either museum. I am going down to St. petersburg in March to see the new museum. I do hope that it will be an amazing sight. I will let you know my thoughts when I return from my trip.
