A fall day in Vermont.
Saturday night after the gallery close we packed up the car and headed north to view the foliage. Our first stop was Stroudsburg, Pa to stay at the Linden‘s house for a night. It was great catching up and meeting there two new cats. Then Sunday morning we were on the road by 5:50a to meet our deadline of Mendon, Vt by 11:30.
All in all we both had a great time and enjoyed seeing the foliage, however the locals said it was not in peak yet. The colors and the mountains were just what two people from Philadelphia needed. I will say that I was worried about the roads after Irene, but we only came across a few closed roads which really amazed me. “The Vermont Agency of Transportation says more that 260 roads have been washed out by flooding, and several bridges have been destroyed around the state, including one historic covered bridge that was swept downstream.”, and we were able to drive on most of these roads, yes to me that is truly amazing. I guess the “I Am Vermont Strong” stands true.
On a different note, while driving in Southern Vermont on Sunday we heard about the passing of Mikey Welsh, our thoughts are with Danielle and their two boys, the family, friends, and the fans from all over the world. I will never forget the last time that we went up to visit Mikey, he made us the best hamburg I have ever had.
Great photos, thanks for visiting Jonathan! 🙂
Beautiful pictures in a bittersweet context!
