Joshua Allen Harris’s Inflatable Bag Monsters have been making an appearance all over the street of New York much to the surprise of passing pedestrians. Seemingly discarded heaps of plastic bags and trash, the creations come to life as a gush of air erupts through subway grates and fills the tubes of taped plastic. They dance and burst with energy for their shortlived existence until the vital support of train air disperses with its benefactor. The newly created individual slowly collapses in a fit of exhaustion onto itself as it is transformed back into it primary state of plastic waste. Starting with a small white polar bear, Harris has created a variety of creatures from giraffes to the lochness monster. He tapes the initial pieces together and then lets the city take control and breath life into the discarded materials.
