Concrete Sofa

December 6, 2011

This sculpture was brought to our attention by our friends at
The Original Sofa Co.

The Concrete Sofa, designed by Gray Concrete, is made from a cast of a classic 3 seat Chesterfield, so you get the look of the leather. The sculpture really captured the essence of this couch, it’s design and it seems as if this one has a lot of history behind it. It can be used for indoor or outdoor use. Would be an interesting replacement of the normal park bench…and luckily, you won’t lose your change in these seats.

It reminds me a lot of this sofa, other than the color of course!

They also did this for a design show….

From Gray Concrete: For our stand at 100% Design 2010 we built an apparently massive arch of shuttered concrete. Although the arch looked like fifty tonnes of reinforced concrete it actually weighed less than 200kg. Inside the arch was a triptych showing birch trees in winter. The pattern was created with a combination of cast in and acid etched artwork. In front were a pair of our concrete chesterfields.
