Recipes to Use Up Those Random Ingredients – Part 2
It’s week two of cleaning out unused food in our pantry. This week I had to buy a few extras that we didn’t have lying like milk, and turkey bacon. We used up spinach, grits, and mushrooms – and we were very happy with the outcome. Click the recipe names or pictures to get the recipes!
Medium level – mainly because you have to have a few things going on at a time. We’ve been sitting on grits for a while, I love them with just butter, but this was a great way to make it a full meal and to use up spinach. I forgot to stir in the egg/salsa/cheese mixture in for the bottom layer of grits and it still held together well. We used turkey bacon, but not necessary. Also, I might top it with more cheese for the future but it was very good and flavorful!
E.A.S.Y. If you love mushrooms like me and my husband do, this is your recipe! Soups are a great way to cover up mistakes, and this one is kind of a no fail. This recipe is super rich, very easy, and the more mushrooms you add the more you can use it as a main dish, like we do. The recipe calls for sour cream, but I really do not think it’s necessary. It does add some body to the soup, but you can fix that with adding some cornstarch. This recipe can also easily be made into a vegan delight by keeping out the sour cream and using soy milk.
