Poodle Day, September 30, 2012. No kidding.

“Poodle Day kicks off with a parade for poodles, poodle mixes, and their human companions followed by other activities at The Crossroads. Afternoon events include off-leash beach play — organized by the Poodle Day Team — a scenic stroll, a hike, or other dog-friendly activities around Carmel. Later that evening, cocktail parties allow the dogs to lounge in style as their human companions gather for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation.”

We happened to catch the day before as we drove down the coast between San Francisco to San Diego. Our stop in Carmel, staying at Vagabond House, had more to offer than we planned.
