Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art is pleased to announcePlainsight, Plainspoken featuring new work by Corey Antis and Anna Neighbor. For this exhibition, Antis and Neighbor will present paintings, sculpture, photography and video that investigate the uncanny.

Antis includes both paintings and sculptures. His semi-organic sculptures lend themselves toward references of rock formations and geology however being grouped on a carefully fabricated table, their abstract qualities are brought to the forefront. Among other works, Neighbor’s marked cloud photos obstruct the visual associations of cloud and object by being drawn on in a dark scrawl. Taken together, both artists create artworks that are slightly skewed from the familiar. Their works propose questions about the experience of seeing and the meanings that lie just out of sight.

Corey Antis’ work has been included in national and international exhibitions including Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University, the Vox Populi Gallery, Three Walls, Heaven Gallery, the D.C. Arts Center, Hunter College, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Frieze Projects Art Fair, the Stray Show and SPACE Gallery, among others. He received a B.F.A. degree in painting and a B.A. degree in English from Cornell University, as well as an M.F.A. degree in painting from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University. He currently lives and works in Kansas City. This is his second exhibition with Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art.

Anna Neighbor’s work had been included in national and international exhibitions including Three Walls, the Vox Populi Gallery, Temple Gallery, Flux Space, the University of North Carolina, and the Tate Modern, among others. She received her B.F.A. in photography from New York University and her M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia. This is her first exhibition with Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art.

Plainsight, Plainspoken will open on Thursday January 10th   with an opening reception with the artists from 6 – 9 pm. The exhibition closes on Saturday, February 23rd.
